What will you do with the last few weeks of Summer? With the new school year approaching, it is time to squeeze in last-minute family activities in Coastal Virginia! From afternoon storytelling to local aquarium visits, Chesapeake Homes provides you with family activities throughout the region. While many believe Summer ends Labor Day, it truly ends September 22nd. This leaves plenty of time for outdoor adventures, arts and crafts, or new discoveries. Hurry to pack a bag, jump in the car, and get the most out of your last few weeks of Summer!

Ride On The Reading Bus. Stocked with hundreds of volumes of books and fun activities, the Virginia Beach reading Bus promotes reading readiness for youth. Parents or caretakers are encouraged to step on board and spend time with their child as they are introduced to an assortment of stimulating reading activities.

Visit King Neptune. Adventure to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront for more than just the sandy beach and salty waves. Enjoy multiple festivals throughout the remaining weeks of Summer including Neptune’s Surfing Classic, Neptune Festival Art & Craft Show, International Sand Sculpting Championship, and a multitude of outdoor concerts. Enjoy free entertainment that the entire family will love!

Take An Art Class. Explore a wide variety of media including animation, clay, glass, painting, photography, and more at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) located in Virginia Beach. Camps and classes are offered for children ages 2-16 challenging youth to express themselves through art.

Become A Top-Chef. Try something new and send the kids to junior-chef classes! Williams-Sonoma, located in Virginia Beach, offers young-chef classes where easy-cooking is introduced. Watch as your children make delicious recipes, bake deserts, arrange main courses, and have plenty of tasting along the way!
