I was perusing the interwebs recently, looking for photos
related to a design trends presentation I am giving soon. As I searched
bathroom styles, I noticed one trend in particular - that many inspiration
pictures used on social media platforms and websites are AI generated.
While the world embraces artificial intelligence in all
facets of life and business, we are also learning the downfalls of this
quick-thinking technology. Ironically, ChatGPT, a popular AI platform, can
provide you with a list of all the negative effects of this technology.
But in my searching, I discovered oddly manipulated images
that at first glance give an on-trend aesthetic but then the wonkiness hits
hard.
I’d like to share some of the images I stumbled upon and hope that we can all get a laugh.
In this bathroom you can choose between washing your hands or taking a bath. But you can’t do both.
I’m a little concerned how the toilet paper will stay dry with a rain shower head over the toilet.
I haven’t known too many situations where two bathtubs in one bathroom are necessary.
Biophilic design is trending but this terrarium-esque bedroom is over the top.
AI generated images aren’t always so blatantly obvious, but
as you search social media and other media platforms for inspiration, be sure
to have a discerning eye when the photos you find seem too good to be true.
If you want to find interior design options that were
created by real people, not a computer, there are plenty of sources for these
images. When building with Chesapeake Homes, we make sure to supply buyers with
materials that will help them visualize and inspire your choices throughout the
process. From our website with various model home images, to Design Gallery
previews and more we are here to help provide real inspiration and examples of
what options are actually available.
Another method for seeking help is finding interior
designers that share the same design style as you. Most designers have social
media platforms that allow them to showcase their completed projects. Even if
you aren’t sure what your design style is, you can scope out their work which
may help you identify the look you are going for.
Additionally, home furnishing stores generally have displays
in stores and on their websites that showcase not what they are selling but
also an aesthetic that you may want to emulate.
When you stumble upon images that are silly, crazy, or impractical, chalk it up to the lack of human influence and have a good laugh. In a world, increasingly shaped by algorithms and A.I., the heart of homebuilding should remain human. Thankfully, Chesapeake Homes is here to keep that human connection apart of each step in the new home building process.
